Music

Leiden has a lively music scene. Well-known performers and local bands can be seen in LVC and Q-Bus. The city’s Concert Hall hosts regular performances by famous artistes. The main pop venues and concert halls are listed below. 

  • Cultural Centre De X
    De X is a multicultural venue for world music, jazz, cross-over, pop, folk and poetry.
  • Sociëteit De Burcht
    At the foot of the Burcht, Leiden’s castle ruins, you will find Sociëteit De Burcht, where musical events have been held for over 20 years. There are regular jazz concerts in the Fontein Room.
  • Leids Vrijetijds Centrum (LVC)
    Music venuw for local, national and international acts and DJs with all types of music.
  • Pieterskerk
    The Pieterskerk is an exclusive event location and, even more important, a historic monument with an impressive history. The church is the venue for frequent concerts.
  • Q-Bus
    Small venue for (pop) music. It is part of the Muziekhuis.
  • Leiden Concert Hall (Stadsgehoorzaal)
    Leiden’s Concert Hall was built in 1890 and is oneo f the most beautiful concert halls in the Netherlands. It is widely praised for its excellent accoustics. The Concert Hall hosts performances by a range of artistes and ensembles.
  • Hooglandse Kerk
    The  Hooglandse Kerk hosts a diverse range of events. This impressive church is not open only for church services; that would be a pity. It also regularly opens its doors for concerts.
  • In Casa
    Dance hall In Casa is a discotheque where different parties are held. The DJs provide a wide range of music including pop, dance, R&B, Latin and techno. Thursday is student night.
